Who Are We?
Grounded MCR started with a coffee trike in Cringle Park.
Originally created as a small independent coffee offer in the park, it quickly became clear that people were coming for more than just caffeine. Conversations started between strangers. Regulars got to know each other. Families, dog walkers, freelancers, older residents and park runners all shared the same space.
Somewhere between the flat whites and the cake counter, a community began to grow.
That idea still shapes Grounded MCR today.
What began as a coffee cycle has grown into our shipping container café — a welcoming, independent café serving locally roasted coffee from Ancoats Coffee Co., homemade bakes, fresh food and seasonal specials in the heart of the park.
Alongside the café, Grounded MCR operates as a Community Interest Company, reinvesting income back into community projects, training opportunities and inclusive spaces for local people.
Through partnerships with organisations including FareShare and Pure Innovations, we support projects focused on food dignity, wellbeing, employability, SEND families and reducing social isolation.
But first and foremost, we’re a café.
A place to get a really good coffee, eat well and feel welcome.
